The Yunnan folk cuisine gets inspiration from Southern China, Vietnam, Myanmar and Thailand but remains flavorful and authentic. The lamb samosas and the tea leaf salad. Ghost Chicken salad with Yunnan wild vegetable cakes…simply delicious!

AMBIENCE

The minimalist colonial era-inspired Interiors consists of a splatter of National Geographic style modern photography dotted around celebrated old wood carved doors. The traditional Yunnanese ornate decor with low-lit dining room transports you to a romantic realm of the exotic south province. Buzz and noise are energizing as a result of an unending crowd but not overbearing. This branch has a spacious roof-top bar that’s popular in the summer.

SERVICE

Servers are dressed in regional ethnic attire offering swift service with artful presentation. Some of the staffs speak English but the explanation of the dishes could be better. The service is good but as a result of the crowd, you might struggle at times to get the attention of the servers.

FOOD

Lost Heaven on Bund offers some generous sizes meals that a person might find hard to finish. The menu includes fabulous beef and shrimp rolls and pot stickers; also garlic chicken dish brings out the spicy and flavorful of Yunnanese cuisine. Other dishes include spring rolls and Dali chicken with chilies and green onions. Wine and specialty cocktails are also available. The cocktails are excellent and rather strong.

SUMMARY

The slightly hidden small entrance might be deceitful of how big the main dining hall is. The fusion of the traditional menu is fantastic. The atmosphere is fascinating with good service. Price is very reasonable. It’s a very busy restaurant which makes reservations a must.
